The beach is one of my favorite locations to shoot. It’s the perfect playground that just invites fun to be had. The one thing to keep in mind when choosing it as your location is that the water can sometimes be a beacon to little ones. They run towards it the way I run when I see that beautiful green siren beckoning me to get a venti Salted Caramel Mocha. I don’t mind water play at all. In fact, I welcome it and I’ll get in there too to capture it all. It’s just something to keep in mind that you might be taking home a soaking wet, sand-covered child. It’s always a good idea to bring a spare set of clothes, not just for the kids but for you too.
It’s also important as with any trip to the beach to practice great safety and not leave your kids (especially the littles) alone if they are near the water. Sometimes a high tide comes out of nowhere (reference the last image) and it’s important to be there to grab your little ones. Thankfully his parents always had a hand on him and he thought it was hilarious. His face is priceless. Pretty sure that was their favorite image from the mini session.
Also, it should be noted that this family is incredible. These parents are some of the most giving, selfless, fun, hilarious and kind people you’ll ever meet. We are so lucky to know them and count them as family (the dad is my sister-in-law’s cousin).
