The other day we were driving to school and Zack said to me “I want to have my birthday party be Star Wars this year”. I tried to hide my panic as I realized his birthday was fast approaching and I hadn’t even thought about the party. Has it seriously almost been a year since his last party already?! Is my little baby boy really going to turn 5 in less than a month!? While I scramble to plan and prepare this years party I figured it was about time to share his pictures from his party last year.
As you can see above I Photoshopped Zack into the “With the Beatles” album cover for the banner. For the invite we recreated the Hard Days Night cover:
And of course we had to have some Yellow Submarine Twinkies. I also bought these cutters on Amazon to cut music note shaped cheese.
Piano shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and Beatles cookies left over from our family shoot with the amazing Photos By Kim E.
Zack told me he wanted an Abbey Road cake. I’m not a great cake decorator but this what I came up with that was within my realm of possibility.
For an activity outside of swimming I had paper plates, beans, and paints for the kids to make their own tambourines. Of course we had to serve some Sergeant Pepper-oni pizza. I spent way too much time making sure all of the food items had some sort of puny menu name but unfortunately I ran out of time to write them down so no one even knew. They were probably confused by some of the menu choices.
For goodie bags I bought and printed off these from Etsy and pasted them on normal gift bags.
For the inside we bought blow-up microphones and guitars, star glasses, Pop Rocks, and rock star tattoos.
No party is complete without a photo booth! I hand-painted some Beatles themed props and bought the wig and glasses from Amazon. The other props were just things I had lying around of course.
And of course we ended with a fun dip in the pool.
Hopefully this years party will be just as fun and I can keep myself from ruining it by crying over the fact that my little boy is growing so fast.
